"Cathay" came to us on November 3, 2017 from the NBSPCA from the Saint Joseph area.  It is estimated that she was born about August 10, 2017, so she was just a baby.  She had beautiful long hair and "bedroom eyes."  She weighed in at only 1.9 pounds.

Cathay was thin and was lame on her left hind leg.  This was determined to be caused by a fracture in the growth plate of her hip socket.  She may require surgery later on, but right now everything looks great!  She's happy to be warm, safe and have lots of food (which she prefers to eat from a spoon while her servants pat her at the same time!)  She is a great purrer, too.  And those beautiful eyes!!   Cathay tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV).  As it is contagious to other felines, she would like to live in a home with no other cats or with another FeLV-positive cat - almost everyone loves company!  Please go to the blue area below for more information about FeLV.  Cathay is a sweet little girl who has been hoping for a loving family of her very own - maybe even for Christmas!?!

Cathay is honoured to have been named after Cathay Williams, a slave, and the first African-American woman to enlist in the United States army.  In order to do so, she had to pose as a man using the name William Cathay, as women were prohibited from serving in the military at that time.

On December 23, 2017, Cathy's wish for her very first Christmas was granted when she was welcomed into the home of a young couple from Nashwaak Village, NB.  Cathy purred and kneaded immediately when picked up by them - she knew this was the Christmas present she'd been dreaming of!  Thanks, Casey and Josh - she's a very lucky little girl whose feet may rarely touch the ground!  She loves it!!  Merry Christmas!

Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is found in cats worldwide.  It may be spread by saliva, nasal secretions, urine, feces and milk from infected cats.  Cat-to-cat transfer of the virus may occur from a bite wound, during mutual grooming and (though rarely) through the shared use of litter boxes and feeding dishes.  Transfer may also take place from an infected mother cat to her kittens, either before they are born or while they are nursing.

"Juan" and his brother Pablo (see below) came to us on October 17, 2016 from the Hartland area where they were living under an abandoned house.  They were born about May 18, 2016 and had no one to make sure they were fed, safe and warm.  Juan was quite timid and nervous at first, but now he knows he's safe and cared for, so he's much more confident.

Juan currently lives with four other cats at DunRoamin' and he's used to the hustle, bustle and all the volunteers who treat him so well.  He'd love to go to a safe, warm and loving home, especially if his brother Pablo gets to go with him!  He loves him, as well as other cats, and loves to have someone to cuddle with.

On December 20, 2017, Juan met a lady from Woodstock who just knew he was the kitty for her.  And as an extra Christmas miracle, his brother Pablo got to go with him!  Yahoo!!  Congratulations!  Send lots of photos of you and your new family!  Merry Christmas!! 

"Pablo" and his brother Juan (see above) came to us on October 17, 2016 from the Hartland area where they were living under an abandoned house.  They were born about May 18, 2016 and had no one to care for them, and it was starting to get really cold at night.  Pablo was initially timid, but once he was picked up, held and patted, he quickly settled in just fine.  Now he's nothing short of the cutest, loudest-purring cuddle cat you'll ever meet!

Pablo purrs, head butts and enjoys being cuddled and talked to.  He'd love to have a safe, warm and loving home, and he'd particularly love it if his brother Juan could go along with him!  They love sleeping wrapped around each other!

On December 20, 2017, Pablo got his Christmas wish when he and his brother, Juan (see above) were adopted by a lovely lady in Woodstock.  Congratulations to you both!  Merry Christmas!!  Please write soon!  We'll all miss you!

"Tarot" came to us on November 22, 2017 from Beechwood with her mom and five siblings.  They were at least the second litter born to Brenna, an unspayed cat who had no one to care for her or her familiy.  The kittens were born about October 31, 2017.  Tarot has two brothers, Coal and Noir, and three sisters, Keera, Coraline and Kellas.

Tarot is black with a greyish chin, a little bit of a moustache and she has a much shorter tail than the others.  She weighed 10 ounces upon her arrival.  She's working on putting on some more weight, since she's the smallest of her family.

On December 15, 2017, Tarot met a lady who invited her to come live with her and Scully (see below).  Tarot accepted graciously and can't wait to join her family.  Thank you so much!  Merry Christmas!

"Scully" came to us on August 23, 2017 from the Waterville area where she had been found on the road the previous evening.  No one was able to care for her.  Scully was born about June 9, 2017, so was only about two months old - much too young to be on her own, especially in her condition.  Her eyes were glued shut with infection, but she recognized warm, caring hands and began purring and kneading almost immediately, aware that she was now safe.

Scully was diagnosed with a bad case of upper respiratory infection, conjunctivitis, nasal discharge, she was weak, very thin and had a purulent discharge from her hind end.  Her breathing was very raspy and an x-ray was taken to ensure that her lungs were working efficiently - this showed mild changes in all lobes in her lungs, but that has since been rectified. 

Scully has received the best of medical care including antibiotics, subcutaneous fluids and any additional support required and she is now SOOOO much better!  She has grown, put on weight and plays happily with other kittens.  She's still a little shy with people she first meets, but that shyness doesn't last long.  She loves sleeping under the blankets, and she loves her huge friend Abner who loves her as well! 

On December 15, 2017, Scully received her very first Christmas present - A HOME!  She will now live in Knoxford with a very nice lady who has also adopted a friend for her named Tarot (see above).  Congratulations!  Merry Christmas!!

"Caesar" came to us on September 29, 2017 from the Oakland area.  His brother, Julius, (see above) had been rescued two days earlier.  Caesar had medical issues problems to Julius - very underweight, thin, fleas which caused him to be anaemic, etc.  He weighed only a little more than Julius and, thankfully was doing a little better, but he was still pretty sick.  He was born about June 1, 2017, so was, about four months old and weighed a little more than three pounds.  He showed his gratitude with an occasional purr, especially after his belly was filled!

Caesar was treated for all his worries and, as you can see by the photo, he's now fine.  He was initially fed by syringe, but soon began eating on his own and was be back to being a normal, healthy kitten in a few weeks.  He is now 100% healthy, happy, and ready for his very own family.  He would love it if his brother Julius could go with him - they are very close and sleep entangled with each other, as well as wrestling and playing constantly!

On December 15, 2017, Ceasar was invited to join the family of a very nice lady in Prince William.  As an added Christmas bonus, his brother Julius (see below) was invited to join the family, too!  Congratulations!  Merry Christmas, everyone!  Don't forget to write!!

"Julius" came to us on September 27, 2017 from Oakland where he had major problems.  He was emaciated, dehydrated, had ear mites and so many fleas that he was anaemic.  He also felt so bad that he didn't want to eat at all, even though he was starving - he was just skin and bones.  He was treated with several administrations of sub-cutaneous fluids daily, antibiotic injections, eye medication, prescription food, warm heat pads and lots of love and attention. 

Julius was fed by syringe numerous times each day to ensure his body got what it needed to help repair itself and he was weighed daily to ensure that he gained - he really needed to.  He was born about June 1, 2017 and he only weighed about three pounds.  As of October 1, he was eating a bit on his own but was still very lethargic - he just didn't feel good yet.

Three weeks later, as of October 22, we're so happy to report that Julius was now PURRFECTLY FINE!!  He is 100% healthy, happy, playful and is just waiting for that glorious day when he can go live with a permanent, loving family!  He would like to have his brother, Caesar, come with him - they love each other and have never been separated!

On December 15, 2017, Julius was elated to learn that he was adopted by a very nice lady from Prince William, NB.  And to make the first Christmas the most special ever, his brother Caesar (see above) was invited to join the family also.  Congratulations!!  Merry Christmas!!

"Boone" came back to DunRoamin' on August 16, 2017.  He had originally come to us on April 21, 2015 from Johnville where he had been found with a 3-inch open wound on his left side, infected upper canine teeth, dirty ears and gingivitis.  He was not in good shape and not a happy camper.

Boone was all fixed up and eventually adopted, but came back to us due to urinary issues as he had not been eating the proper food.  He is slightly overweight but is committed to losing it, just like Wilson!  Boone must eat Urinary S/O food only to ensure that he does not become blocked.  On this food, he will be forever happy and healthy.

Boone is an extremely affectionate cat.  He loves to be with people and will follow them around from room to room to ensure he always has people to whom he can express his love of life!  Boone was born about October 21, 2013.  He has been back on his prescription diet and is perfectly healthy again!  Thanks, Royal Canin, for your S/O food!

On December 14, 2017, Boone got a wonderful Christmas present when he was adopted by a lady from Woodstock where he'll have the best life ever.  Congratulations, Boone!  Merry Christmas!  Send lots of pictures of you and your new family!

"Hail" came to us on November 24, 2017 from Bath where she was found in a box in the rafters of a garage.  Her mom, Lotus, had been rescued two days earlier and when her rescuer realized she still might have kittens, went looking for these little ones.  Hail and her siblings, Snowdon, Slippy, Blanc, Freestone and Sleet were born about October 27, 2017.  When found, they were living (and had probably been born) in a box in the rafters of a garage.  They had been without their mom to keep them warm, feed them or stimulate them to pee and poop for at least two days, so they really needed help.  They had fleas which were treated.

Hail is white with a few tiny grey spots on her head.  She was the most fragile of  her siblings.  When found, little Hail was on the garage floor, having fallen or crawled out of the box in the rafters of the garage.  That's a long way for a little baby to fall.  She was hypothermic (her temperature was less than 34*C) and she had low sugar levels, to name a few of her problems.  With concentrated medical care, she soon recovered to become a curious, playful and loving little girl.

On December 9, 2017, a lady travelled all the way from Fredericton to meet little Hail to see if she might like to come join her family.  Hail agreed, especially after learning that there were already permanent feline family members and that there was a dog upon whom all the felines slept and they all loved to play with him.  She is very happy to become part of this loving family.  Congratulations, Hail!!

"Ypres" came to DunRoamin' from Knowlesville, NB, along with her brother Dunkirk and two sisters, Somme and Caen, on the morning of November 9, 2017.  Their mom, believed to be a feral stray, had been struck and killed on the road the previous day and a lady had found the four kittens in a box in her unheated shed.  With no mom to feed them or keep them warm, they needed help.  All four are almost indistinguishable beautiful grey tabbies.

Ypres was born about September 28, 2017.  She and her siblings were fostered by a very kind and generous supporter whom we thank profusely.  They appeared to be eating on their own and were healthy, although they needed a little help along the way.  Ypres was the largest of her siblings and  was very affectionate.  She especially loved to play with her siblings.

Ypres is honoured to be named in memory of the many heroes of the battles of Ypres during World War I.

On December 8, 2017, Ypres was elated to learn that she was adopted by a very nice man whom she had met the previous day.  She will now live in Greenfield, and to make the day even MORE happy, her sister Caen (see below) got to go with her!  Congratulations!  Merry Christmas!!  Don't forget to write often!  Your foster mother will miss you dearly!!

Caen is honoured to be named in memory of the many heroes of the battle of Somme during World War I.

On December 8, 2017, Caen learned that she had been chosen to be one of the two newest members of a very nice couple from Greenfield.  Her sister, Ypres (see above) also was chosen, so they won't ever be lonely!  Congratulations, Caen!  Please write often!  Your foster mother will miss you dearly!!

"Mrs. Claws" came to Dun Roam in' from Woodstock on the afternoon of the day before Christmas, 2013.  She had a collar embedded in her flesh under her right front leg.  She had obviously tried to get out of the collar but her leg had gotten caught.  This would have been very uncomfortable and painful for her, especially trying to survive in this cold winter weather on her own.  She was born about December 25, 2012.

She was quickly made warm, safe, pain-free and was eating like she hadn't had food in a very long time.  She soon settled in, was no longer startled by movements or sounds and realized she was finally safe.   She purrs and head butts her human slaves when they enter the room.  She also tells them if they've done something wrong!  She can be a little cranky at times, but she gets along with the dozen or so cats she lives with, although she'd be just as happy to be your only cat!  She also loves kids.

On February 3, 2016, Mrs. Claws was diagnosed with an intermittent heart arrhythmia.  She was recently rechecked and it appears that is no longer the case - her heart is FINE!!  She's perfectly fine, happy and her attitude is as healthy as she is!

On December 7, 2017, Mrs. Claws met a young family from Fredericton.  She instantly fell in love, as did they.  She is now the newest family member which includes a young boy and girl who love her COMPLETELY!  Within an hour of entering the home, she was fully relaxed, wandering around, checking everything out and purring.  Thank you, Ashley, for giving her a home.  She is a very lucky little girl.  Congratulations, Mrs. Claws!  Merry Christmas!!  Christmas wishes really do come true!!  We will truly miss you!

First night at home with her new family.   Dreams do come true!

"Limit" came to us from the Bedell, NB, area on November 14, 2017.  He had been wandering aimlessly looking for help for several weeks, but could find no one to care for him.  He was cold, hungry and thirsty.  With the weather turning colder, especially at night, he had a very poor chance of being safe, warm and fed in the coming winter months.  There is a limit to how long a young cat can survive on his own during these Maritime winters and he was getting too close to his!  He's grateful to have received help.

All DunRoamin' cats are neutered, fully vaccinated, tested for FIV and FeLV and treated for all parasites, so once this was accomplished, Limit was ready for a home.  He is exceptionally social and loves both cats and people.  He loves to purr, head butt and follow you around.  Limit was born about August 10, 2016, so he's got a good long life in front of him now without fear of cold, injury, sickness, predators or lack of food. 

On December 1, 2017, Limit was officially adopted by his new family who had met him several days previously when visiting York, another injured DunRoamin' cat whom they had found and brought for help.  When York is well enough, she will also be adopted to this family in Hartland as a friend for Limit.  We are grateful for the love and family of which this little boy is now a part and we're grateful for the lady who made his new life possible.  Thank you!

"Garvin" originally came to us on July 20, 2017 from the Woodstock area where he was found all by himself on the road.  His entire body was horribly matted and he had fecal balls on his butt.  Being long-haired and outdoors, his fur had accumulated dirt, sticks, leaves, etc and had matted to the point that his entire body had to be shaved.  He let us know right away that he felt SOOOO much better!

Garvin was born about January 20, 2013 and has been on his own for quite some time, according to his body condition.  He is happy to be safe, warm and free from parasites and especially to be free from the mats on his body.

On November 30, 2017, Garvin was adopted by a nice couple from Mapledale where he'll live the rest of his life in comfort, being spoiled bey on his wildest dreams!  Congratulations, Graven!!

"Dunkirk" came to DunRoamin' along with his three sisters on the morning of November 9, 2017 from Knowlesville, NB.  His mom, a feral stray, had been struck and killed by a car the previous day and a lady had found the four kittens in a box in her unheated shed.  With no mom to feed them or keep them warm, they needed help.  All four were almost indistinguishable beautiful grey tabbies, but Dunkirk can be identified because he's a little darker than his sisters.

Dunkirk was born about September 28, 2017.  He and his sisters, Caen, Ypres and Somme were fostered by a very kind and generous supporter whom we thank profusely.  They were soon eating on their own and became healthy.  Dunkirk will purr for belly rubs and he loves to be held.  He'll lay on his back with his feet in the air if you'll rub his belly!

On November 28, 2017, he was adopted by a family from Beaver Dam, NB where he'll be a friend for Kit who was adopted on November 19, 2017 (see below).  Congratulations, everyone!

"Pipi" came to us on October 26, 2017 from the Wapske, NB area where she was found all by herself.  Pipi had an upper respiratory infection, fleas, worms, she was cold and she was very hungry.  She lapped up all her food almost immediately - we're hoping she'll fill up soon!  She was prescribed parasite medication and antibiotics to help her overcome her maladies and received all required medical attention to ensure her health and safety.

Pipi is a very sweet and loving little kitten.  She purrs as soon as she sees a human and if you pat her or rub her chin - she's in ECSTACY!!  And what volume she has!  She is very energetic and loving.  She can't wait to have her very own dedicated person!

On November 22, 2017, Pipi met the lady who would become her family.  She now lives in Grafton where she'll have the best life ever!  Congratulations!!  Send us lots of photos, Pipi!  We'll miss you!

Happy at home!

"Kit" came to DunRoamin' on October 14, 2017 from New Denmark where he had been found in a box on the side of a road along with his four siblings.  There was no mother to care for them and there was no help available for them in their area.  Kit, Langdon, Freddy, Sabrina and Chucky were born approximately September 23, 2017. Kit and his siblings were dehydrated, thin and had fleas.  They were soon in the care of a loving vet tech where they began eating away and putting on weight in no time. 

Kit is the most playful of his siblings.  He is energetic, affectionate and he loves other cats to play and sleep with.

On November 19, 2017, Kit was adopted to a home in Beaver Dam where he will grow up with two young boys and his new feline sister, Chloe.  Congratulations, Kit!  Send lots of photos!!

"Langdon" came to DunRoamin' on October 14, 2017 from New Denmark where he had been found in a box on the side of a road along with his four siblings.  There was no mother to care for them and no help was available for them in their area.  Langdon, Kit, Freddy, Sabrina and Chucky were born approximately September 23, 2017. Langdon and his siblings were dehydrated, thin and had fleas.  They were soon in the care of a loving vet tech where they began eating away and putting on weight in no time. 

Langdon loves to suck on your fingers and he kneads constantly when he's happy, which is most of the time!  He is independent and energetic.  When he's totally content, secure and relaxed, he'll "zone out" - just enjoying the sensation of being oblivious to everything else while he totally unwinds!  He is extremely cute and can be differentiated from his orange siblings because he has a little more white around his eyes.

On November 19, 2017, Langdon spent some time with a young couple from Woodstock who were quite sure they were entirely in love with him and his brother Chucky (see below).  As a matter of fact, they were positive they were, because they chose them to be the newest members of their family which includes an older sister for them!  Congratulations!  Write soon and send lots of photos of you and your family as you grow up!!

"Chucky" came to DunRoamin' on October 14, 2017 from New Denmark where he had been found in a box on the side of a road along with his four siblings.  There was no mother to care for them and there was no help available for them in their area.  Chucky, Kit, Langdon, Sabrina and Freddy were born approximately September 23, 2017.  Chucky and his siblings were dehydrated, thin and had fleas.  They were placed in the care of a loving vet tech where they were soon eating away and putting on weight in no time.   Chucky had to be fed separately as he was a little behind his siblings in weight, but he's catching up now!!

Chucky is the second smallest of his litter.  He could be told apart from his brother Freddy because he had a little more white around his eyes - not much, though!  He is the messiest eater of the group and he loves to do face plants in his wet food!  He is extremely cuddly and affectionate - how could you not be when you're raised by a foster family who spends so much time taking advantage of your cuteness?  It's win/win for everyone!!

On November 19, 2017, a young couple from Woodstock who had met Chucky previously returned to spend some quality time with him and his brother Langdon (see above).  It took no time at all for them to recognize the fact that both Chucky and Langdon were the perfect new family members for them.  They'll also have a big sister to play with!  Congratulations to everyone!!  Send us lots of photos, okay??

"Freddy" came to DunRoamin' on October 14, 2017 from New Denmark where he had been found in a box on the side of a road along with his four siblings.  There was no mother to care for them, and there was no help available for them in their area.  Freddy, Kit, Langdon, Sabrina and Chucky were born approximately September 23, 2017.  Freddy and his siblings were dehydrated, thin and had fleas.  They were fortunate to be accepted into the care of a loving vet tech where they were soon eating away and putting on weight in no time. 

Freddy loves attention and talks the most.  He is the tiniest of his siblings and is a huge cuddler.  He has a beautiful orange tabby coat which is the darkest of all his siblings.

On November 17, 2017, Freddy got some wonderful news.  He met a really nice lady from Lakeville who already has an ex-DunRoamin' cat, Selma.  Freddy and his sister Sabrina (see below) were both invited to come join their family!  Congratulations!  Please send lots of family photos!! 

"Sabrina" came to DunRoamin' on October 14, 2017 from New Denmark where she had been found in a box on the side of a road along with her four siblings.  There was no mother to care for them, and there was no help available for them in their area.  Sabrina, Kit, Freddy, Langdon and Chucky were born approximately September 23, 2017.  Sabrina and her siblings were dehydrated, thin and had fleas.  They were fortunate to have the care of a loving vet tech where they were soon eating away and putting on weight in no time. 

Sabrina is the largest of her siblings and the most independent, being the only girl!  She eats the most and bosses the boys around!  She's got attitude just as much as she's got cuteness!  She is very busy and won't be held long - there are way too many interesting things to play with and figure out!!

On November 17, 2017, Sabrina hit the jackpot!  She was officially adopted by a very nice lady in Lakeville where she'll live with another ex-DunRoamin' cat, Selma! And to sweeten the pot even more, her brother Freddy (see above) got to go with her!  Congratulations!!  Please send photos and tell us about your new life!

"Andy" came to us on August 13, 2017 from the Gordonsville area where he, his four brothers and one sister (Bullseye, Buzz, Hamm, Woody and Jessie) were found all alone.  An adult female had been struck and killed on the road three days previously and we deduced that these little kittens were her family.

All kittens were tiny, dehydrated and hungry.  They were estimated to have been born about August 2, 2017, so would not have survived for many more hours without their mother.  They are fortunate to have made it for help!

All six were fostered by three vet techs who volunteered to take on their care which included feeding them by syringe every three hours to ensure they were hydrated and got the nutrition they required to grow strong and healthy.  We can't begin to express our gratitude to Riley, Eryn and Kate for their assistance for these little ones.  What would they do without you?!?  What would we?

On November 15, 2017, Andy learned that he would officially join his foster family as a permanent family member.  He is ecstatic!  He loves his family and is grateful to get to stay with them.  Thanks, Eryn!  He's a lucky little boy!

December 7, 2017

"Franco" came to us on October 14, 2017 from Knoxford where he was found all alone on the road.  His injuries were serious and he had no one to help him.  Franco was born about July 14, 2017.

Franco's injuries consisted of the following:  most of his left front leg was missing, his lower lip was torn, his lower jaw was fractured, his lower canines were missing, he had wounds and bruising on his right hind leg and his tail had an injury that may have required his tail to be amputated.  Franco was very scared, of course, but we're glad he's with us for comfort, food and medical attention.  He is grateful to the people who donated in support of all his care.

On October 16, 2017, Franco underwent surgery to remove the remainder of his left front leg, his lower lip was reattached and he was neutered.   Good medical care insured that his tail did not require amputation - we're grateful for that.  He was fortunate to be chosen by a loving vet tech to be her foster kitty, so he received lots of medical care as well as love and attention.

UPDATE (October 23, 2017):  Franco's foster mother reports that Franco is initially timid and will run when you first enter the room.  However, once you get your hands on him he turns into a cuddler who will purr, roll and head butt.  He loves belly rubs - but his first instinct, probably because of his previous life, is to run.  He just needs some socialization to be secure in the fact that he is now 100% safe, sound and loved - that will come very quickly with the care of his foster mother. 

On November 15, 2017, Franco met his new mother for the first time when she traveled all the way from Halifax to take him to his forever home.  It was love at first sight and Franco immediately sensed kinship.  We look forward to seeing photos of you, your mom and your new sister, Luna.  Thanks to your mom for everything - we'll be happy to hear of your new life!  Please write often.

UPDATE:  December 7, 2017 - Franco has already become a cuddle cat who begs for attention and lots of affection.  He is confident, happy, content and loved! What a lucky boy!!

"Benedict" came to DunRoamin' on July 29, 2015.  He had belonged to a family but when he was allowed to go out he became injured and they could not meet the financial obligations of his care.  Benedict was examined and found to have a high fever, he was dehydrated and had abrasions and lacerations on his right front leg. 

All Benedict's medical needs were addressed and he was neutered and vaccinated.  He is very loving and affectionate and loves to head butt and be cuddled. He claimed the rocking chair in our general population room where he lounged daily while his human servants waited on his every desire!  He is a beautiful boy!

Benedict eventually was diagnosed with a bladder infection and a small bladder stone but he's fine now.  He eats Urinary S/O food as a standard to ensure he doesn't get a bladder infection again.  He is one of our most loving and affectionate boys and he loves his friend, Hemo.

On November 15, 2017, Benedict was excited to learn that both he and his friend Hemo (see below) were invited to live with a very nice young lady in Burtt's Corner.  She already has a cat who eats Urinary S/O food and she's excited to have new family members!  You couldn't possibly have a better home, guys!  Congratulations!  Send pictures soon!!  Thanks to your new mother for adopting two best friends together!!

"Hemo" came back to DunRoamin' on June 6, 2017, due to health issues in his adoptive family.  He was originally found as a stray outside the Upper River Valley Hospital with no one to care for him.  He was born about 2006 and is a handsome and loving little boy.  He loves affection and will sit for hours if you'll just scratch his ears!  His big ol' eyes hold more love than you can imagine!

Upon routine examination, blood was discovered in his urine and bladder stones were the culprits.  The stones were removed and he's now perfectly fine!  He is currently eating a diet of Royal Canin Urinary S/O food which ensures no more stones can form.  You won't find a more affectionate orange tabby!

On November 15, 2017, Hemo was elated to learn that he would have a home with a very nice young lady in Burtt's Corner.  His friend Benedict (see above) got to go with him and he'll have the company of another cat who also loves Royal Canin Urinary S/O food!  Congratulations, Hemo!  You couldn't have found a better home and family!  Send us pictures soon!!

"Peace" came to DunRoamin' on the evening of November 4, 2016, when she was live-trapped at an abandoned home in Hartland.  She is the fifth cat rescued from this area where a lady was feeding them but they had no real shelter or caretaker.  In addition, none were spayed or neutered, so this group of five would, without a doubt, turn into dozens very quickly, all of whom would have had no home.  Peace would like to thank this lady for looking out for them.  She'd also like to thank Dr Monteith for helping her on her time off - she's been examined, received parasite control, spayed, fully vaccinated and tested for FIV and FeLV.  She's perfectly fine!

Peace is so named because her white and grey fur form a peace sign on the back of her head.  She was initially timid, but she's safe, warm, has a full belly and is surrounded by friends. 

As of August, 2017, Peace has come a very long way.  Her favourite person is a young lady who volunteers and cares for her.  She loves to be carried around by her and loves to lay on her.  When she bonds, she really bonds! 

On November 10, 2017, Peace was adopted by a lovely lady from Woodstock.  Please stay in touch, Peace.  We can't wait to hear about your new home and new life!

"Dobrik" came to us from Stickney, NB, on July 7, 2017 where he had been dropped at a home approximately seven months prior.  Although the people were trying to feed him, when he became injured they were unable to provide medical assistance.  Dobrik was born about July 7, 2015.

Dobrik was diagnosed with multiple bite wounds on the back of his neck and forelimbs and had numerous scars from healed wounds.  He also had a wound on the left side of his face.  He had obviously not had a great life to date, but that all changed that day.  He was treated with antibiotics for his infections, provided with flea and worm medication and vaccinated and neutered.

Dobrik has very nice manners and is a sweet boy.  He's now perfectly healthy, happy and a going concern.  What will make him happy is a caring and loving home.   It's his dream!

On November 9, 2017, Dobrik's dream came true when he was welcomed into a family in Red Bridge.  He is very happy to know that he'll have a permanent home and get to watch TV and sleep on a bed with his new family!  What a life he's going to have!  Congratulations, Dobrik!  Write soon and send lots of pictures!!

"Brinkley" came to DunRoamin' on August 18, 2017 from the Perth area, along with his mom Brittany, her mom's friend Anwick and seven other kittens:  Thurso, Kintyre, Glasgow, Bethany, Bentley, Bartholomeow and Oban.  Both adults were thin and nursing kittens.  All eight kittens had fleas so bad that they were anaemic.  Sadly, little Thurso, Kintyre and Glasgow were not able to survive, despite immediate and intensive veterinary care.  The other five were placed under determined medical care.  Bethany was the only little girl from the litter. 

Brinkley is a very cute little orange tabby boy with four white socks and white on his chest and belly.  He loves his siblings and prefers to sleep in a cat pile.  He was born about August 2, 2017, and is exceptionally playful and cuddly. 

On November 5, 2017, he was officially adopted by one of our very favourite people.  He will live in Upper Brighton as a friend for Reuben and two ex-DunRoamin' cats now known as Ron and Don.  Congratulations, Brinkley!  You did GREAT!!

"Bentley" came to DunRoamin' on August 18, 2017 from the Perth area, along with his mom Brittany, her mom's friend Anwick and seven other kittens:  Thurso, Kintyre, Glasgow, Bethany, Bartholomeow, Brinkley and Oban.  Both adults were thin and nursing kittens.  All eight kittens had fleas to the point that they were anaemic.  Sadly, little Thurso, Kintyre and Glasgow were not able to survive, despite immediate and intensive veterinary care.  The other five were immediately placed under determined medical care.  Bethany was the only little girl from the litter. 

Bentley is a very cute little guy black and white guy with a white belly and white feet.  He was born about August 2, 2017.  He is a sweet, quiet little guy who loves his siblings and loves to cuddle.  He thanks Sarah for all the care he and his siblings have received, and especially for her generosity and compassion.  Where would they be without her??

On November 4, 2017, Bentley's mom came all the way from Fredericton to take him home.  He will now be spoiled royally, just like he deserves!  Congratulations, Bentley!  Please send lots of photos.  We'll all miss you, but most especially your foster mom!

"Emerald" and her sister Elena (see below) came to us on the afternoon of August 13, 2017 from the Williamstown area where they had been dropped off.  Compassionate people had tried to care for them, but as they were sick, did not have the resources to do so.

Emerald is grateful to them for their assistance.  She had upper respiratory infection and infected eyes.  They were born about June 15, 2017.  Both were treated and did very well - they're perfectly happy, healthy, energetic, loving little girls.  Her dream was to have a permanent home, perhaps along with her sister Elena.  Wouldn't that would be FANTASTIC??

On November 3, 2017, Emerald's dream came true when she and her sister Elena were chosen as the newest members of a wonderful young family in Florenceville.  There they will live out their lives in complete love.  And they have a brother, too - ex-DunRoamin' kitten, Tetris!  Congratulations!  We're so glad you got to stay together.  Please send us lots of updates as you grow!!

Elena is grateful to them for their assistance. She had upper respiratory infection and infected eyes, but good medication, good care and good lovin' soon made a drastic difference in her health - she's doing well - no problems at all!  She and her sister were born about June 15, 2017.  They love playing, wrestling, sleeping and cuddling together. 

On November 3, 2017, their prayers were answered.  All they had ever wished for was a loving family and a home they could both share with this family.  Elena and her sister Emerald now live in Florenceville with another ex-DunRoamin' kitten, Tetris.  Congratulations to everyone.  We're so very glad you got to go to a home together!  You'll have the life of which you've dreamed!  Write soon and tell us all about it!!

"Anwick" and her friend Brittany, mothers of eight kittens who were only about 16 days old, came to us on August 18, 2017 from the Perth area.  Both moms were very skinny and their babies had so many fleas that they were anaemic.  Several other kittens from the location had already died.  Anwick's and Brittany's kittens were only about 16 days old.  Unfortunately, three of them, Thurso, Kintyre and Glasgow, were unable to survive, despite medical intervention.  We thank the vet techs who cared for them and gave their all to help them.  You can read about these three kittens on our Pet Memorials page.

Brittany ended up nursing all five kittens.  When needed, their food intake was augmented by syringe feedings by their new foster mother.  They were weighed daily to ensure they all gained weight appropriately.  All kittens soon became healthy and were adopted to loving homes. 

Anwick was born about August 8, 2016.  She waited patiently for a loving, caring home so that she could have a happy end to her story . . .

. . . and on October 30, 2017, she hit the jackpot when the gentleman who adopted Arwen (see below) the previous day returned to adopt her for company for Arwen!  We are SO happy for them both!  Congratulations!  Please stay in touch!! 

"Dramah"came to us on May 12, 2017 from the Carleton Co-Op where she was a stray who had, no doubt, been dropped off to fend for herself.  The large and busy parking lot is a dangerous place and staff had tried to catch her for quite some time.  She had given birth to at least two litters, none of whom had survived.

When Dramah finally allowed herself to be captured, she was not in good shape.  She had the general assortment of parasites such as fleas, worms, etc, and a very bad case of upper respiratory infection.  She also had some dental issues which required dental surgery to rectify.  She is much better now, thanks to medical intervention.

Dramah really wanted to trust people and she has since come a very long way.  She loves to be patted picked up and cuddled and dreams only of a warm, safe, loving home in the very near future.  She was fostered by a loving family in Florenceville where a young man fell head over heals in love with her, so . . .

. . . on October 29, 2017, she officially became a member of his family.  Dramah will move to Antigonish, NS, where she'll be the best friend of her admirer for the rest of her VERY happy life!  Congratulations, Dramah!  Thanks, Brandon!! 

"Arwen" came to us on September 1, 2017 from the Woodstock area where she was a homeless stray who had recently had kittens.  She was very thin, had parasites and halitosis.  She also had thickened intestines.  She was provided with all care and medication which helped with her medical needs.  With all this love and care, she soon became healthy, happy and ready for a home of her very own where she could display her gratitude for all the assistance she had received.

Arwen is a beautiful, quiet, sweet, loving cat who appears to be familiar enough with humans that she probably had a home of her own previously.  She was born about September 1, 2014.  Arwen waited patiently for that perfect person to walk through the door . . .

On October 29, 2017, her wait ended.  A gentleman from Glassville was her chosen family and she now lives there happily!  He had very little say in the matter - she chose him!  Congratulations to both!  Write soon, Arwen!!

"Miss Hap" came to us from the Canterbury area on August 2, 2017.  She was born about August 2, 2010.  She was a stray who was trying to survive all alone but was not doing well.  She was very thin, had fleas, scabs all over her body (probably from flea dermatitis) and had moderate tartar.  All these things were rectified and her scabs have all healed, her fur has grown back and she has put on a little weight from some good nutrition.  She's perfect again!

Miss Hap is a very quiet, unobtrusive, friendly and affectionate little girl.  She's a beautiful pewter grey lady who'd love to have a home where she can live indoors and not have to worry about food or parasites ever again.  She loves other cats, children and everyone else who loves her.

On October 25, 2017, Miss Hap was adopted by a family from Florenceville where she'll get all the love, attention and care that she deserves and desires.  Congratulations, Miss Hap!  Please write soon and send lots of photos!

Oban is a very cute little orange tabby boy with white stockings on his hind legs and white socks on the front.  He also has white on his chest, mouth and belly.  He is VERY handsome!  He loves his siblings and prefers to sleep in a cat pile.  He was born about August 2, 2017.  He is very playful, very loving and very affectionate.  He and his siblings were very fortunate to be fostered by a kind young lady who fed, bathed and monitored them around the clock for several weeks, ensuring they became healthy, loving, confident little kittens - which they did!!

On October 25, 2017, Oban was adopted by a family in Maplehurst where he'll enjoy the company of another DunRoamin' cat, Gunnar (see below).  Gunnar loves everyone and will enjoy playing with Oban all day long!  Congratulations!

"Gunnar" came to us on May 6, 2017 from Upper Brighton where he had been trying to survive near a potato house.  He had been rescued from a dog attack but had nowhere to go from there.  Gunnar was born about May 5, 2015. 

It is felt that Gunnar may have belonged to someone at some point, because he is happy to be around humans.  He is cuddly and purrs to show his gratitude for the medical assistance provided to him.  He was very lean, not yet neutered and was FULL of fleas.  He also had ear mites and abrasions behind both ears from scratching at them in an attempt to relieve the discomfort and pain they caused.  He had a healing wound on his right hip, a bite wound, an eye infection, sinusitis from an upper respiratory infection and he also had a defect on the ride side of his abdominal wall, probably the result of the attack by the dog from which he was rescued. 

Thanks to outstanding vet care, Gunnar was soon perfectly healthy, happy and a very affectionate cat.  He loves to play and cuddle more than ANYTHING!   He is small in stature but huge in love! 

On October 25, 2017, Gunnar was adopted by a very nice lady from Maplehurst.  As an added joy, Oban (see above) was adopted as a little brother for him!  Congratulations, Gunnar!  Write soon!  We can't wait to hear about the next phase of your life!

"Sheldon" came to us from Tilley, NB on March 20, 2017.  He was part of a group of cats who had been left in an abandoned house since at least February 1, 2017.  The SPCA had eventually removed several cats from there but he had been left behind.  He eventually found his way out of the house and was live-trapped by neighbours and brought for help.

Sheldon was initially scared but was relatively healthy with ear mites and minor tartar on his teeth.  He was soon neutered, vaccinated, tested for FIV and FeLV and treated for all parasites.  He became very friendly and relaxed once he was warm, safe and fed and hoped for a loving home where he could enjoy the company of servants all day long.  Sheldon was born about March 20, 2014 and is happy to have a warm home, cat and human friends and a chance at the life a loving cat deserves.  His best dream was always to be adopted to a home where his best friend, Bowie (see below) could go with him. They eat a diet of Royal Canin Urinary S/O food, are inseparable and love to run, play, cuddle, wrestle and hug each other!

On October 24, 2017, Sheldon's dream came true.  Not only does he have the best new home ever, his friend Bowie (see below) got to go with him!!  Best day EVER!!!  We're very happy for you and Bowie, Sheldon.  Please write often - we'll miss you both terribly!

"Bowie" became DunRoamin' on Valentine's Day, 2017 when he came from the Perth-Andover area.  He is a handsome and wildly affectionate little boy who loves everyone he meets and eagerly greets newcomers with loving head butts.  He was born about July 29, 2015.

Bowie was diagnosed with a condition which required him to eat Urinary S/O food only.  This is nothing serious at all - he just requires a special diet to ensure his ureter does not become blocked.  He also had an upper respiratory infection, but he's well over that.  Bowie was also diagnosed with a cataract in his right eye.  He was treated for that and he's just fine.  He also had an inflamed bladder wall, but had no bladder stones, which is a good thing.  He was treated with fluids, pain medication and antibiotics, as well as supplements to soothe his bladder and as long as he eats his prescription food, he's perfect!  He hopes to spend the rest of his life in a family being warm, safe and loved.  Who doesn't deserve that?? 

Bowie would love it if his best buddy, Sheldon (see below) could go to a home with him.  They run, wrestle, sleep, play and hug each other constantly - where one is, you'll find the other.  They would love to be brothers for life.  Bowie loves his exercise wheel and will spend as much time as possible on it!  He is a very unique and loving boy! 

On October 24, 2017, we were all ecstatic to learn that Bowie had been chosen to be the newest family member of a wonderful lady in Fredericton.  And, if that news isn't fantastic enough, his best friend Sheldon (see above) got to go with him!!  Yahoooo!  Congratulations!  Write soon and send lots of pictures, guys!!!

"Pastel" came to us on the morning of August 25, 2017 from the Bristol area where she was found all alone near the Shiktehawk trail.  She was just a baby and obviously needed help. 

Pastel was examined by her new vet and the following was learned:  her eyes were infected due to upper respiratory infection, she was underweight, she had ear mites and fleas, she was mildly dehydrated and she had thickened intestines due to parasites.  More significantly, she had a congenital condition known as radial agenesis which means that she has only one bone in each of her front legs - the radius bone is missing.  Her front legs are short and curved which may cause her to adopt a "kangaroo" stance - we saw her do this a couple of times on her first day with us, bearing her weight on her hind legs and lifting her front legs to her chest.  Had she not been rescued, there is little doubt she would not have survived very long.

Pastel was given medication to deal with her upper respiratory infection and to rid her of all parasites.  She was kept warm, given plenty of nutritious food and was quick to show her gratitude by curling up on her foster mother's chest and purring as they watched Killjoys together!  She was then fostered in Bath with a very loving foster mother, several other cats and a dog with whom she has become very comfortable - you might even say she loves him!

We're not yet sure exactly how this little special needs kitten will progress, but she'll have the best of care as she does!  Pastel would like to thank the kind gentleman who rescued her, made a generous donation toward her medical care and gave her the opportunity for a new life with lots of love included!   And she especially thanks her foster mother for giving her the love, care and confidence that she needed to continue her wonderful new life.

On October 24, 2017, Pastel left to go to her new home in Hartland.  She will have many friends there, including a young lady who is in love with her.  Congratulations, Pastel!  Please don't forget to send us photos and stories of the wonderful new experiences you're having with your new family!

"Denver" came to us on August 9, 2017, from the Hartland area.  He was rescued by a lady who was unable to care for him as his left eye was badly infected and required medical attention.

Denver was born about June 21, 2017.  He was thin, had ear mites and, of course, his badly-infected eye.   This did not overly stress him, as he sat quietly while he received all this care, knowing that he finally had the assistance he needed.  Denver is cuddly, affectionate and loving.  It appeared that he had no vision in his left eye and  it required removal on September 20, 2017.  He handled the surgery like a pro and is perfectly fine! 

Denver received all required medical care and was fostered by a very generous vet tech to ensure he received the medical care and medication he required.  Thanks, Chloe!  Now that he's all healthy again, he looks forward to having a loving family.

On October 21, 2017, Denver received some wonderful news!  He will now be the newest member of a family from North View where he will join little Jessie (see below) who was adopted on October 12, 2017.  They will be best friends forever.  Congratulations to all!!

"Bartholomeow" came to DunRoamin' on August 18, 2017 from the Perth area, along with his mom Brittany, her mom's friend Anwick and seven other kittens:   Thurso, Kintyre, Glasgow, Bethany, Bentley, Brinkley and Oban.  Both adults were thin and nursing kittens.  All eight kittens had a large number of fleas and were therefore anaemic.  Sadly, little Thurso, Kintyre and Glasgow were not able to survive, despite immediate and intensive veterinary care.  Bethany was the only little girl from the litter. 

Bartholomeow is a very cute little black and white guy with a white chin, white on his toes and a white stripe down his belly.  He loves his siblings and prefers to sleep in a cat pile.  He was born about August 2, 2017.  He is a real sweetheart!

On October 11, 2017, Bartholomeow went to live with his new family in Woodstock.  Congratulations, little guy!  Please remind your new mom and dad to send us lots of photos - your foster mother will miss you and would love to see you grow up!!

Crysis, Bethany's new friend!

"Bridgeo"came back to DunRoamin' on May 2, 2017.  This beautiful orange tabby boy originally came to us on July 12, 2012 from Woodstock where he had been found hanging around an apartment building.  He was skinny and sick had no one to care for him.  Bridgeo was adopted on September 12, 2012 but was returned due to circumstances unrelated to him personally.  He is a sweetheart.

Bridgeo was born about May 2, 2008.  He is extremely affectionate and loves to give head bonks!  Bridgeo has been diagnosed with diabetes but is very healthy.  He requires an injection twice daily (we hope it will be once daily very soon), but it is simply done and he has no problem at all with it!  He is currently eating a Diabetic diet. 

On September 30, 2017, Bridgeo was adopted by a young lady from Aroostook where he'll get the love and care that he deserves.  Don't forget to stay in touch, Bridgeo.  We'll all miss you very much!

"Lani" came to us on May 24, 2017 from Hartland where her owners were moving and unable to take her with them.  She was born about October 8, 2011, and is a beautiful little girl!  She has a great personality and loves people.  She especially loves kids.

Lani is fully vaccinated, spayed and tested for FIV and FeLV, as are all DunRoamin' cats.  She dreamed of a new home with someone to love her forever, and . . .

. . . on September 22, 2017, that dream came true.  Lani now lives in Woodstock with her new best friend where she'll be spoiled with love forever.  Congratulations, Lani.  Please remember to send lots of photos - we'll miss you!

"Cabella" came to us on September 2, 2017 when she was found in a driveway all alone.  She was obviously injured.  Cabella was examined and found to have a broken hind leg. 

Cabella's leg was placed in a splint and she was treated for the extremely large number of parasites.  On September 6, 2017, Cabella underwent surgery to amputate her leg as it was not repairable.  She recovered well with lots of love and care.  She hoped that she'd be lucky enough to move in with a family where she'd be loved and cared for so that she never has to experience an unfortunate situation like that again!

Thanks to Riley who made certain she got the nutrition and medical care she required while she healed, as well as the love and attention she desired and deserved.  And thanks also for finding her the perfect home . . .

On September 16, 2017, Cabella was adopted by a very nice young lady from Jacksonville where she'll be loved beyond her wildest dreams!  She will also have a canine friend, Dozer, so she's going to be living the life!  Congratulations, Cabella!  Send photos soon!!

"Mayda" came to us on July 8, 2017 from the Woodstock area.  She was part of a family of kittens and was much smaller than her siblings - she was not doing well.  As no other options were available, she was accepted by DunRoamin' to ensure she received the medical care she required.  She was so tiny she fit very well in the palm of a hand. 

Mayda was underweight, had feces on her back end and had dermatitis (red, swollen, sore patches) on her skin.  She also had a bruise on her belly - that must have hurt!

Mayda weighed only 180 grams.  As typical healthy kittens gain about 100 grams per week, her weight indicated that she was only about two weeks old, but she was definitely much older than that.  We are so grateful to her vet tech caregiver who took her home to provide medical care around the clock to ensure she had the best chance possible.  Thanks, Kate and Jeff!  She is SO fortunate to have you!!

Mayda is a very lucky little girl to have been brought for help and continued to thrive with the care she received.  She put on weight and soon became a happy, healthy, playful little fur ball.  She may grow to be a very small cat, but her personality more than makes up for anything lacking in size!  She is a very sweet and loving kitten!  She thanks her foster mother and father for helping her so much!     

On September 15, 2017, Mayda was adopted by a family in Nackawic who will give her the life of her dreams!  Don't forget to write, Mayda.  We'll all miss you, especially your foster mom and dad.  We hope to get lots of photos very soon!   

"Batman" came to us on July 22, 2017 from the Beechwood area where he was found on the side of the road all alone with no one to help him.  He was diagnosed with a broken right hind leg which was originally thought to be so badly damaged that it might have to be amputated, but thanks to the skill and experience of his vet, he was very soon just fine!  Batman is a very cute little guy with a loving heart and a huge voice - he "yells" at us if he wants something!!  He is ADORABLE!!

Batman dreamed of having a permanent home where he would be an indoor-only kitten so he would never have to experience the pain, fear and so many other terrible things that he had undergone so far in his short life. 

On September 2, 2017, his dream came true when a couple from Simonds came to take him home to become a permanent family member.  Congratulations, Batman!  Make sure you stay in touch - we'll miss you terribly!!

Meet "Ophelia," who came back to us at DunRoamin' on May 2, 2017.  She originally came to us on November 4, 2013 from Somerville, NB, where she had no one to care for her.  As a result, she was thin, had fleas, pus in both ears, a polyp in her right ear, missing teeth, a bloody nasal discharge and her eyes were running.  She was immediately accepted by DunRoamin' and she was provided with the care she needed and deserved.  Her ears required amputation due to the damage they had sustained and she is deaf in one ear.  Ophelia was born sometime in the year 2004.

Ophelia was adopted by a family in Plaster Rock where she lived the life of Riley.  She was loved and very well cared for, but due to family circumstances she came back to us on May 2, 2017.  She is a very affectionate cat who loves people and loves to be brushed.  She particularly loves to watch TV with you if you'll let her lay on your lap!  She also loves to talk and will do so all the time!  Ophelia tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV+) - please click on the link below to learn all about it.

On August 26,2017, Ophelia was ecstatic to learn that she was going to have a permanent home with a young lady who would love her desperately forever!  Ophelia now lives in Fredericton where she is once again spoiled beyond her wildest dreams!  Congratulations, Ophelia!  Please don't forget to send photos and tell us all about your new life - we miss you!

** FIV is contagious to other cats through blood and saliva.  It is reasonably difficult to spread, however, and now believed to be mostly spread through deep bite wounds.  Obviously it would be ideal if FIV-positive cats only lived with other FIV-positive cats, but currently some of the large rescue centers in the US have been studying multi-cat households with FIV-positive cats living with FIV-negative cats and have found the risk to the non-FIV cats to be very small, assuming that the cats are all spayed/neutered and used to living in groups (ie:  not as likely to fight).

"Chickadee" came to DunRoamin' on July 19, 2017 from Lindsay where she was found all alone on the side of the road.  Her eyes were glued shut due to discharge from infection and she was not feeling well at all.  She just wanted to sleep.  We're not sure how long she had been there, but she was fortunate to be brought for medical assistance.  Thanks to her rescuers for picking her up off the road and also for leaving a generous donation to help with her care.

Chickadee received all required medical care and was soon doing very well.  She was fostered by a veterinary technician to ensure she had round-the-clock medical attention.  She is extremely cute and she even purrs, knowing that she's now warm, dry, safe, fed and getting the help she needs.   Her foster mother reports that she likes other cats and especially loves dogs!  She is cute, cuddly and affectionate.  Thanks, Chloe, for taking such good care of her!

On August 26, 2017, Chickadee was adopted by a very nice lady from Noonan, NB, where she'll be a new friend for their 10-year old dog and 10-month old cat.  Congratulations, Chickadee!  Your foster mother misses you, so please send lots of photos as you grow!!

"Polar" came to us on July 17, 2017 from Fielding where he had been found all alone on the side of the road.  He appeared to be injured and was very hungry.

Examination revealed that he had a fractured femoral bone in his right hind leg, as well as several abrasions on his tail and nose.  A portion of the end of his tail fell off due to his injury and another segment had to be surgically removed also.  He may have been struck by, or thrown from a vehicle - who knows?  We're happy he's safe with us now.

Polar was born about May 15, 2017.  He seemed to be familiar with people and greatly enjoyed his new digs where he had a soft warm bed and lots of food and attention.  He was cared for, neutered, vaccinated and soon ready for a permanent home.

On August 26, 2017, his dream became a reality.  Polar was adopted by a very nice lady from Rusagonis where he'll live with two dogs, two other cats and a pig!  Congratulations, Polar!  Don't forget to send lots of photos as you grow.  You will be missed by all your DunRoamin' friends!

"Derp" came to DunRoamin' on January 24, 2017 as a seizure by the NB SPCA, part of a large number of cats who were living together who needed some help.  Derp had a wound on his head, and extremely bad ear mites which had been so terrible that they had damaged both of his ear drums.  One ear drum was not salvageable but thanks to medical intervention, the other healed fine.  Derp had only one bone (as opposed to two, as all other cats do) in his right front leg.  Although his leg works fine, there is a possibility that his wrist or elbow joint could dislocate.  He also had one hip which was dysplastic (showed abnormal development) and both his kneecaps in his hind legs could possibly slip out of place.  He may require surgery to repair this condition, but he's shown no problem and we're sure he'll be fine.  Just ask Asher (check out our Adopted Cats page) who had the same problem, underwent surgery for it and is PERFECTLY fine!  He runs, plays and jumps with the best of them.  Maybe better!  Just ask him!!

Derp was born about May 24, 2016, so was just a kitten of only eight months when he was rescued.  What a hard time he's had, but only good things are in store for him now.  He has been neutered, vaccinated and received treatment for all his medical problems.  He also tested negative for FIV and FeLV.   His ear is fine and we're sure there are many more medical miracles on the way for him.  He is a sweetheart who really pines for a family who will love and care for him as he deserves.

On August 26, 2017, Derp was so excited to leave for his new home in New Maryland.  He had met a young couple earlier who fell in love with him and wanted to make sure their home was perfect for him before bringing him home, and today's the day that happened!  Congratulation, Derp!  Send lots of photos and stories about your new life in your new home!  We will miss you TERRIBLY!

"Tetris" came to us on May 15, 2017 from Holmesville where he had been born to his homeless mom, Acacia.  One of his siblings did not survive.  Tetris was born about May 1, 2017, so was only about two weeks old.

Tetris was fostered by a veterinary technician to ensure that he had the care he needed to become strong and healthy.  He's very lucky to have had this opportunity, and we're very grateful to his foster mom.  Tetris was soon eating wet food very well on his own, and loved to play non-stop, especially with his toys and his mom.  He was already litter box trained and was very adventurous.  When he finally tires out from playing, his favourite place to fall asleep is on your lap.  He's a real sweetheart!  He'd like to thank his foster mom for giving him such a great start and teaching him what love and compassion are all about.

On August 10, 2017, Tetris was very fortunate to be adopted by a family in Greenfield where he'll grow up with two young boys.  He will also have a canine brother and a feline brother, Dilbert (see below)!  Congratulations, Tetris!  Please send us lots of photos.  Your foster mom misses you and would love to see you as you grow up!

"Dilbert" came to DunRoamin' on January 4, 2016 from Perth-Andover, NB, where he had been in a home for a couple of weeks, but became ill.  He was brought for help and the following was learned:  he was dehydrated, neurologic (had a problem with his nervous system), was unable to stand or walk and expressed pain each time he was touched on his head.

Dilbert is a sweet cat who has improved nicely.  He loves attention and loves people.  He meets people at the door and rubs against them asking for lots of lovin'.  He's doing very well and is ready for a permanent home.  His sweet personality has made him a favourite of our volunteers and staff.

On August 11, 2017, Dilbert's wish came true.  He was adopted by a young family in Greenfield where he'll live happily ever after as a new friend for two young boys.  As an added bonus, Tetris (see above) was chosen to go along with him!  Congratulations, Dilbert!  Please send lots of photos and be sure to stay in touch.  We miss you already!!

"Cardi" came to us on July 19, 2017 from the Hartland area, barely alive.  A sibling had already passed away from the same problems as Cardi exhibited.  Cardi had an extreme number of fleas which had depleted him of blood to the point that he would not have survived much longer.   He was placed in an oxygen tent to help provide oxygen to his body, as the small amount of blood was not able to distribute enough to keep him alive and healthy, but even that was not enough.  Thanks to the skill and knowledge of his vets at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic, he underwent a series of five blood transfusions which were successful in saving his life.  Thanks to Zero for donating blood to help this little boy, and to his vet who initiated this unique treatment for him.  Cardi was born about May 29, 2017 so was barely even seven weeks old. 

Cardi underwent intensive veterinary care and thanks to the blood transfusions, medical care, and lots of love, was soon healthy, happy and . . .

. . . ADOPTED!  As of July 28, 2017, Cardi is in his new home with his blood donor, Zero, with whom he has become best friends.  He'd like to thank everyone who played a part in saving his life and giving him the opportunity to be part of a family.  He especially thanks those kind and generous people who donated to ensure he'd have the care he required to make it!  Congratulations, Cardi!

"ChitChat" came to DunRoamin' on May 30, 2017 from Jacksonville where he had been discovered on the porch of a lady who observed that he needed help.  Upon examination, it was noted that he was emaciated, dehydrated, had ear mites and had quills in his mouth, neck, lips, front feet and above his eye.  ChitChat was born about July 30, 2016.

All ChitChat's needs were addressed and he was neutered as well.  He was tested for FIV and FeLV and Chit Chat tested positive for FeLV.  Due to the fact that FeLV is contagious to other cats, Chit Chat should live as the only cat in the household, or perhaps with another FeLV+ cat.  You can read about FeLV here.

ChitChat is a very nice boy who is grateful to be pain-free, warm and have food in his belly.  He was quickly eating up a storm, grateful to have the quills removed from his mouth.  How painful that must have been!  No wonder he was so skinny - he didn't even weigh five pounds!  He is very loving and very grateful for the help.  He just wishes he had a home and/or another cat for company!!

On July 23, 2017, ChitChat was made the happiest little boy EVER when a young couple from Fredericton met him and decided that he'd be the perfect friend for their FeLV+ cat, Kuro.  They can live happily together and be best friends!  Thanks to Neil and Danielle - you're awesome!  Congratulations to all!  Please send family photos very soon!!

"Oasis" came to us on the evening of June 7, 2017 from the Grafton area.  She was born about May 10, 2017, so was only about a month old, although she was very tiny.  Oasis had a bad upper respiratory infection, an eye infection, a distended abdomen (probably due to parasites), diarrhea, feces in the fur on her hind end and a very raw and inflamed bum.

Oasis was cared for by two very attentive veterinary technicians who gave her their all, as they always do.  She received a bath, food, warmth and lots of loving.  She was started on antibiotics and pain medications which helped immensely.  She was fostered by another veterinary technician who ensured that she received round-the-clock care so that any medical requirements were immediately addressed.  Her foster mom reported that she is sassy at times (imagine!!) and snuggly at other times.  She is a very fortunate little girl, as are all those DunRoamin'.

On July 19, 2017, Oasis met a young couple from Woodstock.  They immediately fell in love and the rest, as they say, is history.  We look forward to seeing photos and hearing stories as you grow and interact with your new sister.  Congratulations to all!

"Kendrick" came to us on November 15, 2016, from the Wicklow area where he was most likely struck by a car.  He was born about March 15, 2016.  He was very calm and friendly, no doubt very aware that at last he was getting some help for his painful injury.

Examination by his vet revealed that, along with a laceration on his foot and a hole in his groin, his hip was broken in two places.  This required surgery.  The femoral head was removed from his hip joint and he now has pins and wire to stabilize the joint and help him get back to perfection!  

Shortly after Christmas 2016, Kendrick was diagnosed with an abscessed kidney which resulted in it growing to three times it's normal size.  He was treated with a three-month course of antibiotics and he's now fine.  He is very loving, very playful (he loves people and other cats with a passion!) and very affectionate!  He has a very unique, inquisitive, interactive personality that makes everyone he meets fall in love with him.

As a result, as of July 18, 2017, he is the newest member of the family of a very nice lady from Woodstock.  He has a new cat and dog sibling and we're sure they'll get along just great.  Kendrick will require ongoing routine checkups to ensure his kidney is still doing well, but that's not a problem at all!  Congratulations, Kendrick!  Be a good boy!  Write soon!  We miss you - a lot!!

"Quiz" and "Cobble" came to us from Gordonsville on July 4, 2017.  They were kittens who were being fed but had no medical care available.  Quiz's left eye was beyond repair and had to be removed.  Cobble's eyes were well on the way to the same destination.  Despite medical intervention, she lost her right eye due to untreated upper respiratory infection also.  Quiz is short-haired and Cobble will have medium or long hair.

Both Quiz and Cobble had many fleas and ear mites.  They were thoroughly examined and prescribed all required medication to ease their discomfort and heal their infections. 

Quiz and Cobble were born about May 4, 2017.  They were both happy to receive the medical care and affection they required.  Both were anxious to go to a loving home where they'll be safe and cared for for the rest of their lives and their ultimate dream was that they could stay together as a family.

On July 16, 2017, their dream came true.  Quiz and Cobble were adopted by a very nice young couple from New Maryland, and their friend Quenton (see below) was also invited to join them!  Congratulations to all!  Thanks to their new family - you're greatly appreciated!!

"Quenton" came to us on July 10, 2017 from Gordonsville where she had been battling upper respiratory infection.  She was not well at all.  She had severe conjunctivitis and a green discharge from her eyes.  Her right cornea was opaque, she was very thin and had ear mites and fleas.  Quenton was born about March 1, 2017.

Quenton had not had a good start.  She was treated for all her afflictions and it was necessary to remove her right eye.  We hope her left eye will be saved by medical care.  Upper respiratory is contagious (similar to our common cold) but is easily treated if caught early.  Quenton is doing very well and feels so much better that she purrs constantly!

On July 16, 2017, Quenton was chosen by a very nice couple from New Maryland to be a new friend for their two cats.  And as an added bonus, her friends Quiz and Cobble  (see above) were also invited!  Congratulations!  Thanks so much to your new family for giving you such a great home!  You've got it made!!

"Zedd" came to us from Beechwood on June 9, 2017.  He was a stray whom a lady had been feeding for a couple of years but he had never come in the house.  She noticed that he was limping and appeared to be injured.

He was examined and found to have open wounds on all legs - he must have been through something terrible!  Zedd was initially terrified, but slowly settled in.  His wounds have been cleaned, he was put on medication, neutered, vaccinated, and tested for FIV and FeLV. 

On July 9, 2017, Zedd went to live with a nice gentleman in Arthurette where he'll be well cared for.  He will never have to experience injury again and will have the life he's always wanted - love, care, attention, food, water, shelter - what's not to love!?!?  Way to go, Zedd.  Best wishes to you!!

"Lochlyn" - cuteness overload!  Lochlyn came to us through the NB SPCA on June 14, 2017.  She had been found near Jackson Falls, NB, and two of her siblings were already dead.  She was born about May 15, 2017.

Lochlyn was vaccinated, spayed, tested for FIV and FeLV, etc, and quickly became a happy, healthy, purring little girl.  She is very vocal with a raspy, "pay attention to me NOW!!" meow - very large for such a little one.  She is hesitant when she first meets people but quickly overcomes that!  She likes to be held and cuddled, and she especially loves her beautiful home-made bed courtesy of her friend Judy who made it especially for her, knowing that she had lost her siblings and might like to feel warm, safe and secure.  Thanks, Judy, it's perfect!!  Thanks also to Lochlyn's foster mother for taking her in while she awaited all her vaccines so that she can join other cats!  She was fostered with three dogs, too, so she learned to love them also.  She also loves kids!!

On July 6, 2017, Lochlyn was adopted by a gentleman in Florenceville-Bristol, where she'll be loved beyond description by him and his grandchildren!  Congratulations, Lochlyn!  Send us lots of photos of you and your new family!

"Amorah" came to us on May 15, 2017, from Jacksonville where she and eight siblings were found on the side of the road.  One of her brothers, Sampson, did not survive.  You can read about him on our Pet Memorials page.

Amorah had severe ear mites and a large abscess on her side.  She was treated and was soon doing exceptionally well.  She was born about March 15, 2017 and is a going concern!  She loves to run, play and cuddle in her foster home where she rules the roost (if you can catch her - she is so full of joy!!)  She's very loving and very entertaining - she certainly knows how to display her gratitude for all the help she's received!

On July 5, 2017, Amorah was adopted by a young lady from Hartland.  We hope to see you often and will be waiting for each and every new photo and update.  Congratulations, Amorah!

"Dutch" and her three babies, Drift, Axis and Spinner, came to us on August 29, 2016 from Gordonsville where they had come to a home as strays.  The people in the home were unable to keep them.  Dutch was born about August 29, 2013.  Her babies were born about June 6, 2016.

Dutch was thin but healthy enough to feed her babies.  She had an old injury on her ear and her kittens all had ulcers on the roofs of their mouths, but they quickly got much better each day with medical intervention and care.  All of Dutch's kittens found homes but she is still waiting for her chance at love.  She is grateful to have friends, but she dreams of family. 

On June 21, 2017, Dutch, now known as Hermione, got her wish and her dream when she was chosen by a wonderful family in Woodstock where she'll be the new sibling of two young children, three DunRoamin' cats and a DunRoamin' dog.  Congratulations, Dutch, you got it made!  Write soon!!!

"Catosaurus Rex" came to us on April 7, 2017 from the Stickney area.  He had been seen in the area for a couple of days, but on this day he was injured.  He had fleas, healing wounds all over his head and an infected right front paw.  He had not yet been neutered.

Rex was a little scared and hissed when first approached, but allowed himself to be patted.  He was soon fine once he realized he was no longer in any form of danger and that he was with friends.  He lived with Peace and Derp until . . .

. . . June 20, 2017, when he was adopted by a very nice lady and her young daughter.  They all fell immediately in love with each other, and Rex now resides in Upper Brighton.  We can't wait to see lots of photos and hear all about your new life!  Congratulations, Rex!

"Granite" came to DunRoamin' on April 29, 2017 from the Hartland area.  He had fleas and had been experiencing diarrhea for several days and appeared to be in renal failure.  It was discovered that he had ingested a foreign body which caused an obstruction in his bowel, but now that it has been removed, he's going to be fine.  Granite was born about November 1, 2015.

Granite is a sweet, loving, playful and affectionate little boy. He loves people and is anxious for a home and family of his own.

On  June 11, 2017, he got his wish.  Granite was adopted by a young couple from Woodstock where he'll be the most spoiled cat ever!  He loves it!  Congratulations, Granite!  Write soon!

"Haven" came to us from Juniper on February 3, 2017, another stray whom no one could take in.  He was named Haven because he really needed one.  He had various cuts and scratches around his ears and was not a happy camper.  He needed help and friends, both of which he received.  He was born about June 3, 2013.

Haven was immediately neutered and vaccinated.   As he was upset and scared about all his new circumstances, he received a nice set of blue Soft Paws so his nails could not do any damage.  Although he still had a way to go, by the evening he was already much more calm and relaxed because he realized that he was safe, fed, had shelter and had nothing to fear. 

Haven has blue eyes, which means he could potentially have a hearing problem, but we have confirmed that he hears just fine.  He's a very nice boy who settled in well.  He is handsome, intelligent and loving, and he's just waiting for the perfect family who will appreciate those traits.  During the first week of March, 2017, he displayed a bit of upper respiratory infection, but he quickly overcame it.   He has the most mesmerizing eyes - that beautiful blue will capture your heart!!

On June 12, 2017, Haven got the dream he'd been wishing for.  He was adopted by a young couple from Florenceville where he'll have a feline brother, Cheech, and will rule his humans' house!  Congratulations, Haven.  Send photos very soon!

"Shoobie" and "Newbie" came to us on May 2, 2017 from the Plaster Rock area, brothers who were about one and a half years old.   They had never been separated and were very much attached to each other.  They are known as "little clowns," as they are very entertaining.  Both are very loving and affectionate and like to give kisses on your chin.  They love to play and Shoobie loves to knead on you to show his contentment.  They were born about April 22, 2015.

These little boys are almost indistinguishable, although Shoobie has a tiny bit more white on his tail and is the more affectionate of the two.  Newbie decided he LOVES our cat wheel and goes for frequent walks and runs on it!  They are very special little boys.

On June 11, 2017, both Shoobie and Newbie were adopted to a home in Hartland where they'll have an 11-year-old boy as their new best friend.  They are very grateful to be able to stay together.  We'll await lots of photos, guys!  Have a great time!!  Stay in touch!!
